Helly Hansen in snow

How does Helly Hansen berthed 3 waterproof leather shoes deal with snow? Here's one hour walk in -2 celsius degrees and a little bit of snow:



After a half hour of walk the feet are soaking wet!!! So Helly Hansen waterproof leather shoes are NOT a good choise for snow - they are not snowproof! :D How come this bad shoes do exist in markets???

Lets take a peek inside the shoe. Note the strings (1) sewed through the shoe - those are the same sewings presented below that let the water in. The strings are left loose!!! They are not tied or glued to anything!
The sewings overall (2) are also badly done anyhow.



I wonder how long these shoes will last. My guess is less than a year.

Bad Moral Marketing

When Helly Hansen is marketing their non-waterproof shoes as "waterproof leather" shoes, they apparently justify their deeds with the fact(?) that the leather is waterproof (if it is). They don't give a damn about the More Important Fact that the shoe leaks like a strainer. Well I think that's a bad moral marketing & misleading and overlooking the customer. They don't give a shit about you as a customer.

2. Complainment

The second product complainment about unwaterproof waterproof leather shoes sent to Helly Hansen 13.11.2009. The site promises again they will contact me. Well they did not.

Wet socks

Here I am walking on forest, can Helly Hansen WaterProof leather shoes survive on this?

No Way they can! The seams of the shoes leak also and even moist twigs are enough to get your socks wet.



The walking procedure with Helly Hansen WaterProof leather shoes goes like this:

1. Wear the shoes and go walking
2. Turn back home when your feet are all wet and cold
3. Change dry socks
4. Set the shoes to a warm place to dry up

Complaining

First product feedback sent to Helly Hensen 13.11.2009.
"Well get back to you" says the text, but that also seems to be a lie.

Revealing the 'WaterProof'

Well are the shoes waterproof then? The hell they are! Helly Hansen decided to sew a string in front of the shoe:



The string (and of course the needle holes) goes straight through the shoe. Now think about the cylinder and the piston in it. The shoe and a foot forms a similar construction and as the foot moves in the shoe, it's like a moving piston in a cylinder. Then the needle holes are like valves guaranteed the water a free passage into the shoe.
So, in practise The shoe sucks the water in!
